The Lincoln-Sudbury Civic Orchestra (LSCO) is seeking an experienced conductor for its 22-23 season. Conducting responsibilities include: selecting the music in collaboration with the Managing Director & Leadership Committee, leading weekly rehearsals, helping find members, assessing and developing talent, helping to promote concerts, helping prepare the program notes, conducting two concerts annually, and inspiring higher musical achievement.
Weekly rehearsals are held Tuesday evenings culminating in two yearly concerts typically held in early January and early June – all at Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School in Sudbury, MA.
The LSCO is a 50-year-old community orchestra that provides an opportunity for accomplished students and adults, amateur and semi-professional musicians to perform the great classical music repertoire. This unique student-adult collaboration shares the joy, challenges and rewards of creating great orchestral music during its weekly rehearsals and two annual concerts.

Receipt will be confirmed by email. Position is typically contracted for one academic year (September to June) and is reviewed and renewed annually.
Qualifications:
Music Degree plus 2+ years experience conducting, rehearsing and presenting standard classical orchestral repertoire; experience conducting students and adults alike, connected to the Boston area music community. Having held management responsibility in a music organization is a plus. Non-profit organization knowledge is desirable. Knowledge of local musician networks is essential. Desired characteristics include: A high level of musicianship, good conducting technique, a friendly, confident and encouraging demeanor, articulate, ability to work collegially with adults and high school students, desire to learn and enhance the musicianship of the orchestra members, and a desire to produce a quality performance.
